Have you ever questioned yourself why we are able to do without food during the whole night? Our inner clock is reason for this. With the help of the daylight, our inner clock is regulating different processes in our body. And one of its many tasks is control of the feeling of hunger. If this is unbalanced due to few sleep our eating behavior changes and the nutrients are utilized differently. As a consequence you will gain a few kilos within short time.
When having a lack of sleep, the appetite-regulating hormones ghrelin and leptin become unbalanced. But, during the day, too, synchronization of our inner clock might be disturbed by meals, especially by irregular meal times or a radical diet. Here, it is possible, that hunger especially occurs in the evening. The energy needed for night-time regeneration processes normally is taken from fat cells. But, when eating too much too late our body is busy with digestion and therefore fat burning and purification processes won’t work optimally. A gain of weight is one of the possible consequences.
To take countermeasures it is important to care for sufficient sleep at night – and to relieve digestion. Only this ensures that your body is able to address to its tasks of the night: detoxification, repairing, forming of new cells, enhancement of lymph flow and many more.
