No matter, whether you had a hard day at work with high pressure of time and performance and most of the time too less exercise, a too high expectation to do everything perfect, tensions before rising a big challenge or conflicts in the job or private life –- it is easily noticeable: the shoulder and neck-area are getting tense. The neck is a perfect indicator for stress: our neck-musculature reacts sensitively to inner and outer stress-influences.
It is scientifically proven, that the sensitive neck-area densifies during stress. Malposition during work, sedentary work, for example, intensifies this process and very often compensative movement is missing. Consequence: pain in the neck, that very often develops into tension headache.
What to do?
Especially during stressful times it is very important to pay attention to the rhythm of activity and recreation, to sufficient time-outs and breaks. Often, our breathing gets too shallow, a couple of deep, conscious and calm breaths work miracles (best in fresh, oxygen-rich air). Furthermore, exercise and the application of muscle- and fascia-release-techniques successfully support easing of the neck-area. To counteract malposition, frequent getting up and stretching is very important, especially when working sedentary.
Relax and support
No matter, whether your problems in the neck are due to stress, malposition or a combination of both: an easy and comfortable help is offered by the proper pillow. We are spending about one third of our lifetime in bed. If the sensitive neck-area is correctly supported during this time, our system gets the chance to relax! And, without pain in the neck the day surely will be less stressful!
