You are living healthier when you are sleeping enough
Most people level on about seven hours of sleep. Statistically, these people have the highest life expectancy. But, there is no general answer to the optimal sleep duration, since the sleep need differs among humans. A span from five to nine hours is said to be normal. Anyway, the recreational value of sleep does not only depend on the duration. Factors like environment, temperature and personal state loom large. And –- not only too less sleep is unhealthy, it is not advisable to permanently practice the other extreme, too.
Lifetime-sleep-duration
On an average, a human being sleeps a third of his life. In other words, per year we are sleeping about four months.
Falling asleep
With most people it takes about seven minutes to fall asleep.
Parental sleep
Newly parents lose about six months of sleep during the first two living years of their child.
Learning sleep
After learning something new, sleep is helping to bear it in mind.
Sleep enhances sex drive
Studies show, that too less sleep leads to less sex drive, as well as with men and women.
Rock into sleep
For example a “swinging nap”: an after-lunch nap in a hammock or a rocking chair not only puts you faster to sleep –- the sleep is more recreational, too. Culturally it is known long since: babies are rocked into sleep.
Better fall asleep in a positive mood
“Better consult your pillow”. Especially after bad experiences you should not go to bed right away and “consult your pillow”. This would lead to a consolidation of the bad feelings to a memory, like scientists have proved.
A lot of sleep for children
Enough sleep is relative: in the age of 10 years it is about 9, 9.5 hours, in the age of 12 between 8, 8.5 hours and in the age of 16 to 18 years only 7 hours. After this time –- so scientists found out –- the children were most efficient. This is in line with another study, that mentions: the older you get, the less sleep you need.
