Whether you are suffering under head ache, symptoms of cold, lumbago, feeling of fullness or sleep disturbances nature has a natural solution for several complaints. Not every cold needs something out of the medicine cabinet. Medicinal plants are able to ease and prevent several complaints. Our forefathers already were aware of the meaning of the medicinal plants and used them. For example, Oetzi, the 5,300 years old mummy found in the glacier area of the Oetz area (South Tyrol) had birch polypore with him. It is assumed that he used them as medicinal plant.
Effect of the “green medicine”
Using plants us medicine makes many people skeptical, is considered esotericism or not taken serious. On the other hand, quite often an already known and scientifically proved drug is based on a plant or on herbal ingredients. Today, especially women increasingly use nature’s power – herbal teas, relaxation baths, aromatherapies and globules are very famous. But, what herbs for which complaints? Following a small excerpt of the wide range of helpful medicinal plants:
- Lavender not only smells good but is also helpful when suffering under sleep disturbances, tension headaches, aching muscles and nervousness. Place a sachet filled with fragrant lavender on your bedside table or add some drops (5-7) lavender oil to your bathing water. But be careful and only use essential oils from superior quality that are made from 100 % natural plants.
- The rose is the queen of flowers and is especially helpful when suffering under nervous heart complaints, skin problems, head ache or herpes. Add some drops pure rose oil mixed with about 20 ml cream to your bathing water and enjoy the pleasant smell.
- Are you feeling weak and fatigued, are you suffering from a dry cough or a dry skin? Take a bath in cedar! Instead of bathing, inhaling cedar is relieving, too. Add about five drops cedar oil to a diffuser or use the “towel-technique”: Add three drops of cedar oil to two liters hot water. Bend over the bowl with water, place a towel above your head and inhale the cedar-steam for about ten minutes.
- Does the darkness of grey winter days get you down? Try John’s wort. Inhaling St. John’s wort has a soothing effect when feeling slightly depressed or having migraine.
- Peppermint is a true all-rounder! No matter whether head ache, inflammation of the airways or stomach trouble – peppermint is the remedy. Put some drops peppermint oil on your temples when having a head ache or add it to the bathing water.
- Lemon eases feelings of fullness, stomach cramps or low immunity. Lemon oil can be inhaled or can be used for rubbing.
