Optimize your sleep in the wintertime
Your ideal bedroom is as quiet as possible and can be darkened completely. 61 to 64° F as well as 40 to 50 % relative humidity create the perfect climate in your bedroom. Natural as well as pollution-free building materials and interior furnishings strongly influence your quality of sleep, this makes wood to one of the best companions in your sleep surrounding. Of course, the proper bed with the proper bedding content is core of your bedroom. Here again, best massively, untreated or waxed, metal-free.
Materials influence sleeping quality
Due to the decrease of the body temperature during the first half of the night the physical heat demand increases by about 1.5° C. During REM-phases the body temperature rises and the sweat production increases on the other hand. These differences in temperature of about 0.3 to 0.6° C have to be balanced by natural materials that create a self-regulating, dry-warm bedding climate. Especially improper materials are the cause for freezing and sweating in the night which lead to sleep disturbances as well as to disturbances of the regeneration. Avoid pillows and covers filled with down. They have a high static charge and a low moisture absorbance. An overlay made of sheep wool keeps your body warm from underneath; a cover made of sheep wool keeps your body warm from above and protects from the surrounding air – they offer perfect conditions for a dry-warm bedding climate.
Dry-warm bedding climate in abundance
Natural cotton covers filled with untreated sheep wool are recommended. The new bio-ceramic-fabric – which consists of a special combination of pure bio-cotton-thread and bio-ceramic-thread – has many positive effects on our health and creates an optimal heat- and moisture-balance during sleep. Soft and cuddly overlays, pillows and covers are made of this fabric. These comfortable bedding goods lead to a unique, dry-warm and cozy bedding climate.
Biologically active and pollution-free sheep wool is important, too. Sheep wool absorbs humidity one third of its own weight which prevents from unpleasant as well as sleep disturbing freezing or sweating. Furthermore it is odour-binding, self-cleaning, breathable, increases circulation and muscle relaxing. It even neutralizes bacteria and toxins in and around the bed.
Toni Hochreutener, a Swiss expert for back and for sleep was dealing more than thirty years with the topic sleep. He already emphasized the importance of the choice of the proper material for healthy, restful sleep. His experiences proof that the natural, pollution-free materials used by SAMINA significantly contribute to prevention of rheumatologic diseases as well as positively influence already existing problems.
