The effects of stress on our body and mind are manifold, not least stress is the reason for sleep disturbances. The thereby appearing lack of recreation for body, mind and soul massively enhances stress symptoms like “simple” pain in the neck, high blood pressure, increased risk of getting diabetes or burnout and so on –- the effects of persistent sleep disturbances and lack of sleep on our health and ability of performance are extremely negative.
The connection between sleep disturbances and stress are obvious: during daytime there is a permanent lasting tension which we are not able to get rid of in the evening. Out of this reason, the relaxation necessary for sleep often is impossible. It is difficult to come to an end on time –- the problems of the day are taken into bed. Brooding and restlessness are the consequences, you are not even able to think about sleeping –- and if so, this thought even worsens the already existing stress. After all, one should be slept off in the morning!
Out of this reason, different relaxation exercises are advisable. Besides a relaxation- and sleep-friendly environment and bedding content, sex is “the” stress-releaser per se. Sex relaxes and a comforting tiredness arrives. Then, nothing stands in the way of a recreational sleep!
By the way: due to its relaxing effect, sex is the only activity that should be done place in bed besides sleeping. Our brain links anything else -– including reading -– with activity. Especially during stressful times this makes it even harder to relax.
