Besides moderate exercise, warmth in form of a cherry pit cushion or hot water bottle loosen tensions in the neck, too. Following muscle easing household remedies against a tense neck will help:
Household remedies against a tense neck: Bath additives to loosen muscles
Tensions can be eased with a hot bath. Different bath additives like for example hay flowers or chamomile oil enhance the relaxing effect.
Hay flowers
500 g hay flowers, 3 l water
Boil the hay flowers in water. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes and then strain it. Put the brew to your bathing water and enjoy a warm hay flower bath. Pay attention that the tense body areas are in the water.
Chamomile oil
Easily make chamomile oil on your own. Warm up half a liter of vegetable oil and put this together with a hand full of chamomile blossoms into a bottle or screwed glass. Leave the closed glass to stand two to four weeks. Then strain it and fill the oil in smaller glasses or bottles. Use a small bottle for one bath.
Compresses bring relief
There are numerous pain relieving compresses. Compresses with curd or linseed are good for pain in the neck.
Curd compress
Curd is able to perfectly save warmth and to release it slowly. A curd compress is easy to make: spread curd on a towel (about 1 cm thick). Fold the towel and warm it with a hot water bottle. Be careful that the curd is not becoming too hot. Now, place the compress on your neck and fix it with a scarf or towel.
Linseed compress
Other than a hot water bottle, a linseed compress slowly and evenly releases heat. Take 100g linseed and water; boil it until it thickens. Spread the pulp on an old towel and roll it. Place the hot neck-role about half an hour on the painful area and on top another towel to cover it. After this time you will feel a significant loosening of the muscles.
