The transition from stressful activity to a relaxed condition is a big challenge. Especially, when we are talking about the preparations for sleep. When you take too less time to relax during the day very often problems to fall asleep are predestined. The optimal sleep-preparation requires a “down shift” of tensions in body, mind and soul.
Music and sleep
Listening and enjoying selected calming music-compositions has an astonishing relaxation effect. Long since, sleep scientists and music therapists know that a stressed human organism and the therewith associated “stress-pulse” with a frequency of 100 heartbeats per minute or more effectively can be relaxed and therefore “decelerated” by listening to selected classical piano music, for example. So, music might be helpful in coming to rest at the end of the day. Hectic thoughts and muscle tensions which accumulated during a stressful day just disappear. You can already listen to music before going to bed — while brushing your teeth, for example or while reading some light lyric in your bed. This is the perfect start into a restful night.
Music for the night – hints and information
Taiwanese scientists found out that enjoying music for 30 to 40 minutes before falling asleep cares for a calmer breathing and circulation. And this significantly improves the intensity and quality of your sleep.
Limit the musical enjoyment to the phase of falling asleep. With a permanent sound while sleeping there is the risk that you would include the music into your dreams.
Relax, sleep and dream well!
