Have you ever thought about what happens to a common mattress when it reached the end of its life? It’s long since known that synthetic, viscoelastic mattresses disturb sleep and health due its chemical toxins. Furthermore, they require complex disposal. In the end they are disposed as hazardous waste. Not with SAMINA: we are producing 100 % bio!
100 % bio – 100 % degradable
Our ash wood lamella, cotton fabric, sheep wool fillings, pillow fillings with sheep wool, millet or swiss pine are bio-degradable and need no complex disposal. Other materials like natural rubber are “Cradle to Cradle” certified. In this concept, also based on nature, products are produced after the principle of a potentially endless recycling economy. Here, all economic, ecologic and social aspects are considered.
Global warming – threat to the earth
Worldwide, we are struggling with the consequences and effects of global warming. Airplanes, factories, cars, factory farming – all these things contribute to a drastic increase of CO2-concentration; despite the Kyoto-Protocol of the UN where a decrease of the harmful greenhouse gases would be intended.
Therefore, we with SAMINA not only care for an environment-friendly production and are responsible towards resources but we also think about what is happening with our products when they reached their end of life. Being one of the leading companies for natural-healthy sleep, the SAMINA business group takes on the responsibility and has climate-neutral production since 2015.
Our carbon footprint
We let experts analyze our carbon footprint. Here, factors like manufacturing processes, raw material, delivery as well as transportation of our staff and recycling-processes were considered. The findings were included in our concept of 100 % bio. We use, for example, green electricity; due to our traditional craftsmanship in our own production in Vorarlberg/Austria our greenhouse gas emission is demonstrably low.
Natural and renewable raw materials
An important aspect of our philosophy is the fact that natural and toxic-free products additionally support sleep and health. At the same time, SAMINA not only pays attention to a resource-friendly production but also to an eco-friendly disposal. The SAMINA sleep-healthy-products consist of natural raw materials like untreated wood, sheep wool and natural rubber. They can be disposed environmentally-friendly; most of the materials are subject to a natural rotting process. Due to our sophisticated plug system of our solid wood bed frames we process no plastics or metals and therefore produce no additional residual or hazardous waste. With SAMINA, you not only care for the best sleep but also protect the environment!
