Is it hard for you to wake up in the morning? A cup of coffee might help – the caffeine revives. Furthermore, coffee activates our flow of thoughts and supports short term memory. Coffee perfectly fights small energy slumps. But it not always has to be coffee. There also are natural and healthier pick-me-ups that support a good start into the day. Healthy pick-me-ups for a good start:
Alternative and healthy pick-me-ups
- Tea: Especially green and black tea give a perfect fresh kick in the morning. They leverage metabolism and circulation. But be careful: these teas contain caffeine, therefore don’t drink it too late in the evening; they might negatively influence sleep quality!
- Water: The simplest alternative to coffee is water. The natural elixir of life keeps you fit and supports purification and detoxification. 1.5 – 2 liters per day are advised.
- Lemon water: In spring and summer a glass of lemon water is stimulating. The vitamin C and potassium contained is stimulating our immune system. Furthermore, lemon water is digestive, detoxifying and deacidifying. It also supports losing weight.
- Ginger water: The exotic root activates circulation and has a digestive effect. For a cup a ginger water, pour boiling water over 2-3 slices of ginger and let it simmer for about ten minutes.
With the following recipe you can combine the positive effect of lemon and ginger water.
Recipe ginger juice
Mix the juice of one lemon with some sugar (for example organic coconut sugar). Add finely chopped ginger and pour it with boiling water. Let it brew for ten minutes, then add a couple of mint leaves.
Ginger not only stimulates circulation and immune system, but also has a diuretic effect. Therefore, don’t drink ginger water before going to bed.
