Like described in the article “detoxification of the brain during sleep”, our glial cells are described supporting cells for the mechanic stabilization of the nerve cells. Like it is meanwhile known, the function of the glial cells is not limited to a passive supporting role. They are involved in the buildup of the important blood-brain barrier and assimilate substances that are present in excess quantities or are no longer required like surplus transmitter substances, for example. The blood-brain barrier prevents a lot of natural and above all toxic substances in the blood from penetrating the brain and eventually cause damage. Not least, this protection has great significance because the cells of the brain are not able to divide, meaning that dead cells can not be replaced. The beta-amyloids, mainly responsible for dementia and Alzheimer’s are continuously produced in the brain but there is no bigger accumulation of these proteins. Only an accumulation lasting longer — consequence of an insufficient detoxification during sleep — result in health consequences.
But, when it comes to the toxic substances reaching the brain via the bloodstream an often quoted environmental impact is playing a decisive role. We are talking about the technically induced electromagnetic fields, waves and radiation (electromagnetic pollution). Since the natural barrier of the blood-brain barrier might be broken due to these radiations and therewith the gates are wide open for the toxic substances, this unnatural radiation is so dangerous for the human brain. Studies also show other diseases of the central nervous system like multiple sclerosis (MS) or Parkinson. Due to electromagnetic high-frequency fields induced by cordless telephones (DECT), mobiles or WLAN, for example, a temperature rise in the brain arises. It is a proven fact that this temperature rise is caused by the increase of the permeability of the blood-brain barrier. Other studies even show that pulsed high-frequency fields (DECT phones, for example) are disturbing the protective function of the blood-brain barrier without heating effect. Out of this, especially during sleep it is important that as less electromagnetic pollution as possible takes effect at your sleeping place. Regarding this, any sleep- and electro-biological measures like removal of electrical devices from the sleeping place, use of shielded electrical installation, and especially the use of large-scale body grounding with a special and grounded sleeping overlay (Lokosana® – The barefoot in nature effect throughout the night) are more than advisable.
SAMINA body grounding and SAMINA gravity sleeping gain in importance
In scientific studies only the necessity of sufficient sleep, avoidance and treatment of sleep disturbances are discussed. From a holistic point of view it is a matter to create the biologically best possible sleep. A sleep that fulfills the requirements of sleeping quality, sleep duration and sleep efficiency (=bioenergetic sleep®). In connection with the scientific findings about the possibly through sleep favored detoxification of our most important organ –- our brain –- the holistic SAMINA sleep-healthy concept is able to provide an important contribution with the optimization of the sleep. Also, the important component of the nighttime, large scale and contactless body grounding incl. stabilization of the natural earth magnetic field seems to be very important in this context. US-scientists discovered the protective effect of body grounding against electromagnetic pollution. With high probability this protective effect can effectively prevent from an electromagnetic-pollution-favored opening of the blood-brain barrier, too. So, most likely the additional strain of the brain metabolism with toxic substances can be prevented or weakened. In addition to that, the innovation of gravity sleeping at an angle might further importantly contribute to the detoxification of the brain. For example, it is known that the endogenous lymphatic system rather is hindered in its detoxification-function when sleeping horizontally. Whereas sleeping at an angle assists the detoxification of the whole organism while sleeping. Therefore, sleeping horizontally might even have more serious negative effects on the glymph-system of our brain, since sleeping horizontally is favoring a higher brain-pressure. And vice versa, gravity sleeping might prevent from this undesired and dangerous brain pressure and positively support the detoxification of the brain, at the same time.
Two sleep-pioneers with premonition
Finally I would like to quote two pioneers of sleep research and sleep medics. First, Prof. Dr. William C. Dement, Stanford University, who summarized his work on the occasion of his retirement, almost 20 years ago: “After 40 years of sleep science I have not found another factor that has a bigger influence on our well-being and on our health than sleep. For more than 90 %, our health depends on our sleep!” And secondly, one of my most important companions Prof. Dr. Karl Hecht (Berlin), head of sleep medics at the Charité in Berlin for 30 years. In the preface of one of my books he predicted: “In future, no longer the car will be status symbol #1 but the bed!” Both scientists have virtually anticipated that sleeping is going to develop itself to one of the most important processes for a healthy, vital and successful life.
