While outside the weather most of the time is characterized by fog and cold the rooms are cozy and warm. Especially now in the cold time of the year warmth is from great importance. This also applies to your bedroom and your bed. Because, no one likes to be cold – no place and especially not in bed. But only few think about their climate in their bedroom or in their comfortable bed. But, this is a significant good-sleepinh-quality contributing factor. “A good, dry and warm bedding climate significantly improves your sleeping quality”, so sleeping expert Prof. Dr. med. h.c. Günther W. Amann-Jennson.
What distinguishes a good room- and bedding climate?
The interaction of several factors influence the bedroom climate as well as the climate underneath your comforter. Especially an appropriate room temperature, humidity as well as the choice of material are decisive. It also is important that the bedding content as well as the frame are easy to air. Natural material in the bedding, preferably sheep wool products, support a harmonious bedding climate. Here, humidity quickly and easily is absorbed and release into the surrounding. The natural fiber is perfectly accomplishing this task. During sleep, the body needs more warmth. The body functions automatically are cut back. The blood pressure drops and the heart beats slower. Thus, the body quickly loses warmth. Therefore, an appropriate bedding content has to balance the loss of warmth. In addition to that our skin perspires. Here, waste products and toxins are eliminated. The more important it is that your beddings care for a dry bedding climate.
While it is comfortably warm in your living room, your bedroom should not have more than 18 °C. More than 20 °C have a negative influence on melatonin production. The optimal humidity is 40 – 50 %. Furthermore, daily ventilation is important – best, right in the morning after getting up and in the evening before going to bed.
