The daily-routine of numerous people is characterized by constant availability, permanent stress and load. Consciously and actively taking a time-out gains in importance – and more and more people are aware of that.
In many cities, a manager carrying his briefcase and his yoga bag at the same time is no longer a rare sight. A trend towards yoga is continuously growing. Only a couple of years ago, it was labelled as “esoteric trivia”; nowadays, attending a yoga class is just as normal as a visit to a fitness studio. This is due to a profound turnaround connected with a change in the world of work: triggered by the work-life-blending that unhinges the conventional separation of job and leisure time, the desire for peace and focusing grows. Slowing down, mindfulness and awareness are today’s keywords.
In the US, the CEOs no longer meet on TED meetings (technology, entertainment, design) but on “Wisdom 2.0” in California to find and invent wisdom there. The speakers at the event include company founders of Facebook, twitter or eBay. Meanwhile, the “Wisdom 2.0” also takes place in New York, Hawaii and for the first time in Singapore.
The desire for peace is visible in all areas of life: a vegan, vegetarian or simply clean-eating diet is constantly growing. In former days, energy drinks where used to mobilize the last possible resources for never-ending overtime working. Nowadays, the demand for drinks with a calming, relaxing or regenerating effect is constantly growing.
Regenerating by meditation and sufficient sleeping phases has got nothing to do with laziness. Resting phases are mandatory to gather strength and to be able to perform at maximum capacity in decisive phases. In tomorrow’s working world, private people and companies will actively support this way of thinking. Because: by consciously caring for mindfulness you enhance emotional intelligence and make room for concentration and creativity.
