The nice weather favors the pollen count and cares for many people for itchy and watery eyes, a tingling nose or sleepless nights. You long for recovery and improvement, feel tired and exhausted during the day, finding restful sleep almost is impossible.
Often, the nose is stuffed during the night which automatically leads to mouth-breathing. This clearly favors snoring and sleep is anything else but healthy and restful.
These simple tips support restful sleeping in spite of allergies:
- Wash your hair: During pollen season it is not advisable to go to bed without washing your hair. By washing your hair, the accumulated pollen are rinsed out and hence can’t be inhaled during night.
- Clothing: The pollen also accumulate on your clothing. Therefore better leave your clothing out of the bedroom.
- Pollen filters: If you like to sleep with your window open you should fix a pollen filter. This keeps most pollen out of your bedroom.
- Bed linen: Wash your linen every week to remove pollen as well as mites. By the way: when you are not suffering under a sheep wool allergy, use sheep wool in your bedding. With this material your bedding-climate will be dry and warm – clearly not the perfect condition for dust-mites. Hence, their number will decrease.
- Animals: When you suffer under allergies, it is important to banish all pets from your bedroom and bed. There are numerous pollen in their fur.
- Flowers: Do without any fresh cut flowers in your bedroom.
- Carpet: It would be best to do without any carpets and other dust catcher in your bedroom. There the concentration of allergens is especially high. If you can’t do without your carpet care for regular cleaning.
- Air-condition: Be sure that your air-conditioning is equipped with a pollen filter.
- Water: Generally it is advisable to drink enough (about two to three liters of fresh water per day). Water is essentially important for our health and has a moistening effect on the airways.
- Air purification units and air washers support you in decreasing the amount of pollen in your bedroom and therefore lead to a better sleeping quality.
Some of these purchases and changes significantly improve your sleeping quality. If you suffer under a strong form of allergies it is advisable to consult your family doctor. Allergies have to be taken serious since they are a considerable burden for your body and may have serious consequences.
A restful night is not only important for our performance the next day it also gives our body the necessary strength to withstand allergies.
