In our society, sleep disturbances are a wide spread problem. Often, they don’t arise due to physical but due to psychological stress. Out of this reason it is important, not to fight the sleeping problems themselves but the actual cause. Simple relaxation exercises often are a great help. Especially yoga supports total relaxation and forgetting about the daily burdens.
Even if yoga is looked at as being a sport, in comparison to the physical aspect the psychological one is far more important. The Far Eastern teaching is all about gathering inner strength and energy which gets supported by the proper motion sequences. Initially, yoga was a method to get closer to God, nowadays it is one of the most popular relaxation- and meditation-exercises in the world.
The calming effect of yoga has already proven itself for numerous people. It works against stress and its consequences, according to science it also helps against sleeping problems. Of course, yoga is no substitution for medical assistance, especially when having severe sleep disturbances. But, yoga is working perfectly in addition to other therapies. When you are relaxed and free of any stress you are a huge step closer to healthy, recreational sleep.
