In the morning it is already getting cooler, the days are remarkably shorter. Slowly but surely fall is arriving and the weather is changing. As a consequence, about 50 % of the population may suffer under sensitivity to weather (meteorosensitivity). Symptoms like tiredness, sleep disturbances, headache, concentration disturbances, irritability, joint pains or cardio-vascular problems might indicate sensitivity.
But not every reaction on the weather is defined as sensitivity. In medicine, there are three different types:
Reaction to weather
The human organism strives to achieve the best possible function of our organs by an even core temperature of 37 °C. Due to weather influences the vegetative nervous system reacts and cares for a suitable compensation. So, weather reaction means the physical reaction on weather influences without getting sick.
Weather sensitivity
There are two kinds of weather sensitivity:
- Sensitivity of healthy people: This group strongly physically or mentally reacts on weather influences. Most of the time they also are more sensitive to outer influences. By stress, unhealthy nutrition, unrest and disharmony the vegetative nervous system becomes more sensitive and reacts stronger on weather changes. Women are more prone, because their fat tissue is different and their skin is thinner.
- Sensitivity of people with previous illnesses: Diseases like for example rheumatism, asthma, cardio-vascular diseases or migraine might get worse or further problems might arise when the weather is changing.
